Vusi is a seasoned software engineer and entrepreneur with over two decades of experience in technology, consulting, and a decade in executive leadership. Born in the small Mpumalanga village of Maganagobushwa, his entrepreneurial spirit surfaced early—selling milk at his home village, sweets in primary school, and airtime and electronics in high school. During high school he also earned an A+ certificate for computer repairs and learned software development at Gnosis Computer Campus in Ekurhuleni.
Immediately after high school, he built a school timetabling software and ventured into consulting. He notably imported and implemented tracking technology for government vehicles—a system still monitoring over 10,000 vehicles today. His consulting work spanned South Africa, including projects in KZN, The Free State, Limpopo, and Mpumalanga.
In 2018, as a director at Tirhani Group Holdings (TGH), Vusi managed the disposal of R100m in properties for the Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development (GDID) through online auctions—what was deemed unlikely to yield results at the time —yet, some properties sold for up to 31% higher than market value. Later, as executive director of the Centre for Enterprise-neurship (2018–2020), he led the revitalisation of the auction industry by launching the first industry-wide auction conference, co-developing a pioneering research paper with Plus94™, and aligning auction qualifications with SAQA standards.
In 2019, he became Chief Operations Officer at TGH, streamlining the group’s operations from 16 to 5 subsidiaries during the COVID-19 disruptions. In 2021, as executive director of Nyukani Education Centre, a subsidiary of TGH, he led a swift transition to e-learning, resulting in significant academic improvements—including a 10% overall performance boost and record-breaking Matric results, doubling distinctions and achieving a 96% pass rate from 83% in a province averaging 66%. The school later achieved a 100% Matric pass rate after Vusi’s departure, and earned accolades from TT100 and Da Vinci Business School. Vusi also contributed to a program with Isaac Bari, the world’s youngest professor, to make maths and science more accessible to South African children.
In 2023, Vusi took a sabbatical from his executive roles to embark on a 3,257km unassisted cycling pilgrimage from Musina to Cape Town for 10,000 school shoes, so far raising funds for over 3,500 pairs of school shoes.
He now consults as a business consultant, teaches as a faculty member at Duke Corporate Education, is pursuing a master’s in Applied Ethics at Wits University, and is bootstrapping skybookings.com.
Throughout his journey, his wife Victoria and their children have been a constant source of support and inspiration, alongside his love of philosophy and music as an award-winning pianist.
I call myself The Philosopher Entrepreneur. This comes at a critical time when thinking is outsourced to AI, and ethical lines in business are blurry at best.
My mission is to draw on the principles of critical thinking, endowed to us by history’s finest thinkers, while building and helping to build businesses that create wealth and improve people’s lives. As such, I am a life-long student of two great traditions: philosophy and entrepreneurship.
My professional northstars are thus rigour and impact within the ethical boundaries of Ubuntu.
During my cycling journey, I slept over at a third-generation South African-Italian family in Gqeberha (formerly Port Elizabeth). For the first time, I appreciated what it means to build a generational business.
Sadly, the tradition of generational thinking has fallen prey to short-term financial rewards. Today, businesses die with their founders, and the next generation has to start from scratch, wasting decades learning what was already mastered by their parents and grandparents.
I am hunting for businesses that currently have problems, but have the potential to outlast their founders. This is how I can help them:
Solution A—Confidant & Thinking Partner: You might need to review your business strategy, raise money, or fix internal processes and systems. Invite me to work alongside you for clarity and robust dialogue. My fee is R600,000, payable over 12 months, for access to me as your confidant and thinking partner. I only take two clients a year.
Solution B—Investment and Partnership: You can also invite me to invest in your business. In this regard, I prefer businesses or founders with a 10-year trading history. Similarly, I bring strategic direction, discipline and growth with added skin in the game. Terms and fees are negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
Solution C—Training & Facilitation: As a master’s student in applied ethics, companies call me to train their staff in ethical decision-making, crisis management, leadership and strategy. You can also invite me to facilitate a strategy session or to teach strategy to your leadership team and managers. My fees as a facilitator are R45,000 per day, excluding travel and accommodation.
Solution D—Free keynote for your school’s learners or staff: I cycled the country to raise money for school shoes, and I am a former executive head of a private school. I am passionate about education and offer free lectures and keynote addresses to staff or students. You only need to cover my travel, meals and accommodation.

I have had the distinct privilege of knowing and working with Vusi Sindane for over three years. Early in my career, Vusi served as my Senior Director, playing a pivotal role in my professional development. His mentorship during those formative years was invaluable—he provided me with guidance, support, and encouragement that helped shape my approach to business and leadership.
Over the past nine months, Vusi has continued to be my trusted business mentor and friend. Through various challenges and opportunities, his wisdom, insight, and strategic thinking have consistently helped me navigate complex situations with confidence and clarity. As he would always say “take my advise with a pinch of salt”.
As a philosophy and ethics enthusiast and student, I deeply appreciate Vusi’s unwavering commitment to business ethics and integrity. He is one of the few individuals I know who exemplifies these principles in every aspect of his professional and personal life. His ethical leadership is not only admirable but also inspiring to me and surely everyone fortunate enough to work alongside him. 5/5
