Intro & Career Highlights

Vusi is a seasoned software engineer and entrepreneur with over two decades of experience in technology, consulting, and a decade in executive leadership. Born in the small Mpumalanga village of Maganagobushwa, his entrepreneurial spirit surfaced early—selling milk at his home village, sweets in primary school, and airtime and electronics in high school. During high school he also earned an A+ certificate for computer repairs and learned software development at Gnosis Computer Campus in Ekurhuleni.

Immediately after high school, he built a school timetabling software and ventured into consulting. He notably imported and implemented tracking technology for government vehicles—a system still monitoring over 10,000 vehicles today. His consulting work spanned South Africa, including projects in KZN, The Free State, Limpopo, and Mpumalanga.

In 2018, as a director at Tirhani Group Holdings (TGH), Vusi managed the disposal of R100m in properties for the Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development (GDID) through online auctions—what was deemed unlikely to yield results at the time —yet, some properties sold for up to 31% higher than market value. Later, as executive director of the Centre for Enterprise-neurship (2018–2020), he led the revitalisation of the auction industry by launching the first industry-wide auction conference, co-developing a pioneering research paper with Plus94™, and aligning auction qualifications with SAQA standards under the sponsorship of Services SETA.

In 2019, he became Chief Operations Officer at TGH, streamlining the group’s operations from 16 to 5 subsidiaries during the COVID-19 disruptions. In 2021, as executive director of Nyukani Education Centre, a subsidiary of TGH, he led a swift transition to e-learning, resulting in significant academic improvements—including a 10% overall performance boost and record-breaking Matric results, doubling distinctions and achieving a 96% pass rate from 83% in a province averaging 66%. The school later achieved a 100% Matric pass rate after Vusi’s departure, and earned accolades from TT100 and Da Vinci Business School. Vusi also contributed to a program with Isaac Bari, the world’s youngest professor, to make maths and science more accessible to South African children.

In 2023, Vusi took a sabbatical from his executive roles to embark on a 3,257km unassisted cycling pilgrimage from Musina to Cape Town for 10,000 school shoes, so far raising funds for over 3,500 pairs of school shoes.

Vusi spends most of his time building skybookings.com, a technology and capital provider in the events ecosystem. He also serves as a faculty member at the world-leading Duke Corporate Education, while pursuing a master’s degree in Applied Ethics at Wits University.

Throughout his journey, his wife of 13 years Victoria and their children have been a constant source of support and inspiration, punctuated by his love of philosophy and music as an award-winning pianist.

How I see the world

I call myself The Philosopher Entrepreneur.  This comes at a critical time when thinking is outsourced to AI, and ethical lines in business are blurry at best.

My mission is to draw on the principles of critical thinking, endowed to us by history’s finest thinkers, while building and helping to build businesses that create long-term wealth and improve people’s lives.  As such, I am a life-long student of two great traditions: philosophy and entrepreneurship.

I am continuously working on thinking clearly before taking action, and to act decisively within the ethical boundaries of Ubuntu.

How I can help

I work with founders who carry real responsibility. People who are no longer experimenting, but building something that must endure.

Over time, I have learned that business problems are thinking problems. Small miscalculations may seem trivial in the moment, but compound into a crisis in the long run.  This is not due to a lack of effort, but a lack of clarity.

My work is built around one principle: helping founders and leaders think clearly about how their business actually works. Not in theory, not in slogans, but in structure, incentives, and trade-offs.

I look for businesses with real problems and real potential. Businesses that can be strengthened, systemised, and shaped to outlast their founders.

This is how I help.

Some founders do not need motivation. They need a clear, disciplined way of thinking about the decisions that matter: strategy, capital, structure, and systems.

In this role, I work alongside you for twelve months as a sounding board and thinking partner. The focus is not advice in isolation, but rigorous dialogue that helps you see your business as it really is and make deliberate choices about its future.

Confidant & Thinking Partner

Some founders do not need motivation. They need a clear, disciplined way of thinking about the decisions that matter: strategy, capital, structure, and systems.

In this role, I work alongside you for twelve months as a sounding board and thinking partner. The focus is not advice in isolation, but rigorous dialogue to penetrate complexity and make choices based on sound reasoning.

This is a long-term engagement designed for leaders who want depth rather than quick fixes. I limit this work to only two clients per year.

Investment: R500,000 for the year, or R49,000 per month. Excluding travel and disbursements outside of Gauteng.

Training & Facilitation

I serve as a faculty member at Duke Corporate Education, training leadership teams throughout the African continent. I focus on strategy, ethical leadership, and disruptive innovation.

Each engagement is designed specifically for the client. The work is practical, grounded in real business trade-offs, and aimed at helping teams think more clearly about how their organisation actually functions.

A typical full-day session includes two briefing consultations, preparatory research, a tailored workshop for up to ten participants, and two post-session check-ins with written reflections on outcomes. Sessions can be delivered in person or virtually.

Education & Public Schools

Alongside my commercial work, I remain committed to education. I previously led a private school in Limpopo, where we improved academic results significantly and introduced e-learning during my tenure. I also cycled across the country to raise funds for school shoes.

For public schools, I offer lectures and keynote sessions to staff or learners at no cost. Where applicable, only travel, meals, and accommodation are covered.

Writing & Newsletter

I write frequently about business and leadership, in the pursuit of clarity and making better decisions.

The newsletter is not about trends, motivation, or tactics. It is a place to think carefully and reflect about strategy, structure, incentives, trade-offs, and the quiet decisions that compound and make a difference.

What others say

Brian Poopedi—CEO at Revoquest

I have had the distinct privilege of knowing and working with Vusi Sindane for over three years. Early in my career, Vusi served as my Senior Director, playing a pivotal role in my professional development. His mentorship during those formative years was invaluable—he provided me with guidance, support, and encouragement that helped shape my approach to business and leadership.

Over the past nine months, Vusi has continued to be my trusted business mentor and friend. Through various challenges and opportunities, his wisdom, insight, and strategic thinking have consistently helped me navigate complex situations with confidence and clarity. As he would always say “take my advise with a pinch of salt”.

As a philosophy and ethics enthusiast and student, I deeply appreciate Vusi’s unwavering commitment to business ethics and integrity. He is one of the few individuals I know who exemplifies these principles in every aspect of his professional and personal life. His ethical leadership is not only admirable but also inspiring to me and surely everyone fortunate enough to work alongside him. 5/5
