Vusi is a seasoned software engineer and entrepreneur with over two decades of experience in technology, consulting, and a decade in executive leadership. Born in the small Mpumalanga village of Maganagobushwa, his entrepreneurial spirit surfaced early—selling milk at his home village, sweets in primary school, and airtime and electronics in high school. During high school he also earned an A+ certificate for computer repairs and learned software development at Gnosis Computer Campus in Ekurhuleni.
Immediately after high school, he built a school timetabling software and ventured into consulting. He notably imported and implemented tracking technology for government vehicles—a system still monitoring over 10,000 vehicles today. His consulting work spanned South Africa, including projects in KZN, The Free State, Limpopo, and Mpumalanga.
In 2018, as a director at Tirhani Group Holdings (TGH), Vusi managed the disposal of R100m in properties for the Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development (GDID) through online auctions, which was deemed unlikely to succeed, yet yielded prices as high as 31% above market value for some properties. Later, as executive director of the Centre for Enterprise-neurship (2018–2020), he led the revitalisation of the auction industry by launching the first industry-wide auction conference, co-developing a pioneering research paper with Plus94™, and aligning auction qualifications with SAQA standards under the sponsorship of Services SETA.
In 2019, he became Chief Operations Officer at TGH, rightsizing the group from 16 to 5 subsidiaries during the COVID-19 disruptions. In 2021, as executive director of Nyukani Education Centre, a subsidiary of TGH, he led a swift transition to e-learning, resulting in significant academic improvements—including a 10% overall performance boost and record-breaking Matric results, doubling distinctions and achieving a 96% pass rate from 83% in a province averaging 66%. The school later achieved a 100% Matric pass rate after Vusi’s departure, and earned accolades from TT100 and Da Vinci Business School.
In 2023, Vusi took a sabbatical from his executive roles to embark on 3,257km of unassisted cycling from Musina to Cape Town for 10,000 school shoes, so far raising and distributing over 3,500 pairs.
Vusi spends most of his time building skybookings.com, a technology and capital provider in the events ecosystem. He also serves as a faculty member at the world-leading Duke Corporate Education, while pursuing a master’s degree in Applied Ethics at Wits University.
Throughout his journey, his wife and companion of two decades, Victoria and their children have been a constant source of support and inspiration, punctuated by his love of philosophy and music as an award-winning pianist.
Growing up, my father said to me, “it’s possible.” My mission is to find out what he meant. What exactly is possible? It is in the pursuit of this answer that I am committed to depth of thought and excellence in execution.
I therefore think of myself as a Philosopher Entrepreneur.
In a context where thinking is outsourced to AI, and ethical lines are blurred, and everything is supposedly doable overnight, my approach is to think deeply and build boldly, the things that last, drawing on universal principles endowed to us by centuries of great thinkers and practitioners. As such, I am a life-long student, devoted to finding out what’s possible within the ethical boundaries of Ubuntu.
I prefer to work with leaders who carry real responsibility; people who are past dabbling and are building something that must endure and create impact.
Over time, I have learned that business problems are thinking problems. Small miscalculations may seem trivial in the moment, but they quickly compound into crisis if left unexamined.
My work is therefore built around one principle: helping founders and leaders think clearly about how their businesses actually work, and the next steps for making a larger and more positive impact on society.
This is how I help.
For those leaders who need a thinking partner on strategy, structure, people, technology and systems.
In this role, I work alongside leaders for twelve months as a sounding board and thinking partner. The focus is not advice, but rigorous dialogue that cuts through complexity using the Socratic Method.
This is a long-term engagement designed for leaders who want depth rather than quick fixes. I limit this work to only one client at a time, with revenues of R50 million a year, to make time for research and depth.
I design and facilitate training programs independently and work as a faculty member at Duke Corporate Education, focusing on strategy, ethical leadership, and disruptive innovation.
Each engagement is designed specifically for the client. The work is practical, grounded in real business trade-offs, and aimed at helping teams think more clearly about how their organisation actually functions.
A typical full-day session includes two briefing consultations, preparatory research, a tailored workshop for up to ten participants, and two post-session check-ins with written reflections on outcomes. Sessions can be delivered in person or virtually.
Alongside my commercial work, I remain committed to education. I previously led a private school in Limpopo, where we improved academic results significantly and introduced e-learning during my tenure. I also cycled across the country to raise funds for school shoes.
For public schools, I offer lectures and keynote sessions to staff or learners at no cost. Where applicable, only travel, meals, and accommodation are covered.
I write frequently about business and leadership, in the pursuit of clarity and making better decisions.
The newsletter is not about trends, motivation, or tactics. It is a place to think carefully and reflect on the life of a leader in the context of strategy, structure, incentives, trade-offs, and the quiet decisions that compound and make a difference.

I have had the distinct privilege of knowing and working with Vusi Sindane for over three years. Early in my career, Vusi served as my Senior Director, playing a pivotal role in my professional development. His mentorship during those formative years was invaluable—he provided me with guidance, support, and encouragement that helped shape my approach to business and leadership.
Over the past nine months, Vusi has continued to be my trusted business mentor and friend. Through various challenges and opportunities, his wisdom, insight, and strategic thinking have consistently helped me navigate complex situations with confidence and clarity. As he would always say “take my advise with a pinch of salt”.
As a philosophy and ethics enthusiast and student, I deeply appreciate Vusi’s unwavering commitment to business ethics and integrity. He is one of the few individuals I know who exemplifies these principles in every aspect of his professional and personal life. His ethical leadership is not only admirable but also inspiring to me and surely everyone fortunate enough to work alongside him. 5/5
