The Strategy Workshop

A strategy is not a long-term plan. Find out exactly what it is.  Get clarity about your business, find opportunities others cannot see, and get the tools to execute with precision.

What's Inside

Three modules, delivered over four days, each designed to help you understand, develop, and manage strategy execution at a high level. This is an in-person workshop, delivered in the evenings at 155 West Street, in Sandton.  Date to be confirmed.

Day 1: The Building Blocks of Strategy

This session grounds leaders in what strategy really is—and what it is not. Executives will learn how to diagnose their competitive position, clarify choices, and understand the fundamental trade-offs that shape long-term success. The focus is on building clear strategic thinking, not jargon or templates.

Day 2: Developing Business Strategy

Here we move from thinking to design. Participants will learn how to translate insight into a coherent strategy that aligns ambition, capabilities, and market realities. The emphasis is on making deliberate choices about where to compete, how to win, and what to say no to.

Day 3: Manging Strategy Execution

A strong strategy fails without disciplined execution. This session focuses on turning strategy into action through structure, incentives, metrics, and leadership behaviour. Delegates will learn how to keep strategy alive in day-to-day decision-making and adapt it as conditions change.

Bonus 1: The 1 Page Strategy Map

Strategy is worthless unless it can be communicated clearly and effectively at all levels. This bonus gives delegates a clear, one-page map that distils deep thought into an actionable and measurable jargon-free tool.  This is a thoroughly researched tool, developed by Harvard professors and used by some of the largest organisations in the world.

Bonus 2: Change Management Toolkit

This bonus provides a practical toolkit to help leaders move strategy from agreement to adoption. Participants receive simple, proven tools to align teams, manage resistance, and translate strategic decisions into new behaviours, routines, and incentives—so change actually sticks inside the organisation.

Bonus 3: The Strategy Diagnosis Toolkit

This bonus gives participants a quick and easy diagnostic tool to evaluate the current strategy, decision clarity, and execution alignment. It produces a concise, evidence-based snapshot of where the business is strong, where it is exposed, and which strategic assumptions carry the most risk—directly addressing concerns about relevance, ROI, and whether anything will actually change.

Meet Your Instructor

Vusi Sindane is a software engineer and entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience.  He is a faculty member at the world-leading Duke Corporate Education, where he is highly rated for teaching ethical leadership, innovation and strategy at Africa’s largest companies.

Vusi was born in a small village in Mpumalanga, Maganagobuswa (meaning those who refused to be ruled).  True to the name of his birthplace, he has gained a reputation as a free thinker, refusing to conform to unsound ideas.

A highlight of his career includes overseeing the operations of 16 subsidiaries, all in different sectors, as Group COO of an investment company in Sandton, Johannesburg.  In this role, he right-sized the group to 5 entities during COVID, effectively giving the group a new lease on life.

He accepted an invitation to turn around one of its subsidiaries, a private school in Limpopo, as Executive Director.  During his tenure, he turned the school into an award-winning institution by introducing e-learning, changing its pedagogic approach, and restructuring its business model.

These efforts, supported by the school’s management team, effectively doubled distinctions in Matric, raising the school’s performance in all grades by an average of 10% and producing some of the highest academic achievements in the province within 18 months.

Vusi went on sabbatical in 2023, cycling from Musina to Cape Town to raise funds for school shoes, of which over 3,000 pairs have been raised and delivered throughout South Africa.

Upon return, he built skybookings.com, an events management platform that is quickly claiming market share from large incumbents, all driven by clarity of purpose, strategy and precise execution notwithstanding limited resources.

He is also a Master’s candidate at Wits, pursuing a degree in Applied Ethics for Professionals, which he intends to explore until PhD level.

“Vusi never ceases to surprise. He is a gifted thinker in our faculty at Duke.” Victor Litshani, Project Director at Duke CE.

Feedback from ABSA,

In August 2025, Vusi designed and delivered a Strategy Course to a cohort of promising young candidates working throughout the African continent at ABSA, where he was rated 4.4/5

Workshop Outcomes

  • Clarity that unites the team
A one-page strategy map that allows you to communicate strategy simply, credibly, and consistently at every level.

  • A strategy you can measure
A clear diagnostic that shows where your strategy is strong, where it is exposed, and what matters most next—so progress is visible and measurable.
